It's a surprising move that they opened up Dual Citizenship to more than just Korean Adoptee's and foreigners with outstanding talents. Looks like a lot of you here that are married to a Korean will be able to apply for citizenship. Nothing mentioned about compulsory military duties for men though.

I wonder if Japan will follow. They've been thinking about it recently too.

Here are my questions:

1. If you had to previously renounced your Korean citizenship, would it be a simple matter to get it back? (most gyopos)

2. Would males who have dual citizenship then be required to serve the mandatory military service?

Quote:
The bill would allow people who meet a certain criteria to have dual nationality, upon the submission of a document pledging loyalty to Korea and vowing not to exercise rights as a foreign national while staying here.

I'm a little cautious about this. What happens if a war breaks out? Do you think Korea is going to let able bodied Korean citizens to leave the country?
