Been looking into a cheap and quick tourist visa run for my girlfriend (American). I've just found out about this. Here's the link with details:

Has anyone tried this? And is it doable over a weekend? (Never done this before.)

Most people tend to go on to Fukuoka as they are doing E2 visa runs and stay a day or two.

the ferry price to the island seems much cheaper though.
they paid around 100k for the train tickets and only around 100k for the ferry tickets it seems. I think to Fukuoka right now its around 80-100k one way or something. The price seems to have gone up.

it sounds like it's doable over a weekend, they just stayed 45 minutes before coming back.
