Hi,

I graduate in the second week of December and on average it takes around 6-8 weeks for the diploma's to come in the mail. From my understand most of the recruitment is done in jan for the start of the new school season. If i'm just receiving my diploma in early/mid feb will that hinder me in finding a job until the next school season? I would really like to receive my diploma and go straight into teaching in March but i'm guessing this is an unrealistic expectation.

If I get all other documentation for my visa done while waiting on my diploma do I stand a chance or will I most likely be waiting until next winter for a spot?

Even mid December is late for applying for the 'main intake' - March public school jobs starting late February - they are hiring now (late October). However, there have historically always been some provinces that hire year round; as well as 'no-shows & 'runners' that need to be replaced.

You can apply in December if you get a 'Certificate of Graduation' from your university registrar (you don't have to wait until you get your actual, 'sheepskin').

Hey, You should be able to find something, there will be alot of hogwans still hiring, and there will certainly be ASAP positions available upon your graduation because there will be some teachers who decide not to come last minute.

I have a friend that got the "Proof of Completion" or something like that from her University. She had a bit of a hassle at first, but it got straightened up and she was allowed to start teaching before she officially had her diploma. (She started in March and her diploma didn't come until June!)

You can try, but you may get hassle. Be prepared for the hassle.
