|
|
Hey everyone,
As I've mentioned before, I applied for a teaching job in Korea through Aclipse recently and have gone through the interview process. My recruiter just told me that Chungdahm has offered me a position and I have a few days to get back to them about my decision.
The contract is a little vague -- it specifies pay, vacation and a typical work week, and little else -- but I was expecting that. What I'm a little concerned about is where I might be placed. I told my recruiter I wanted to be in Seoul, and when pressed about second choices, I told him Busan. Unfortunately it looks like I won't find out where they're going to put me until I sign this contract. My question to any of you who have worked with Chungdahm before is what are my chances of working in Seoul?
-vk
btw, I'm scheduled to leave in June. |

They'll be much better if you tell them that you only will work in Seoul. That's what I did and it worked. |

It's only a matter of time before CDI robs you whether it be at your training week or in the middle of the year when they decide to cut your pay.
I'm just warning you -- if you read my previous post about the unethical way in which they screwed me over, you would probably being having second thoughts about signing their contract.
Underneath it all, CDI is a corporate business. They hire the teachers, regardless of how poor they are, that will cost the least amount of money for them. Ultimately, they base their decisions on a cost/benefit analysis that would yield them the maximum profit -- which ultimately led them to officially offering me a position and then rescinding it because they found some other dude/woman who they can pay 25% less.
I'm not the only victim in their scheme. There are several of these types of posts by numerous amount of people.
It's embarrassing that they call themselves a prominent leader in ESL.
Their motto "Passion for teaching, compassion for learners." Right, that's after the fact that they robbed prospective applicants. |

vertigokidd-
i would have PMed you but i'm still new to the forums. i'm kind of in the same boat, waiting to hear back from CDI about a final offer, but i don't want to be anywhere else but seoul..
if you could keep this thread updated with where they eventually placed you, it would be much appreciated
also, how long after contact with the recruiter did the whole process take of them giving you an offer and the contract?
thanks. |

Luciddreamer,
This thread is months old, but if you happen to see my post, do you think you can PM me? I'm interested when you said that you were a victim of CDI. If by any chance you see this post, let me know, thanks! |
