Firstly, this isn't a racist thread!

This doc is quite interesting and BALANCED.

And yes it does have to do with Korea and Asia in general, hence me putting here.

I remember seeing this on Reddit quite a while ago. It was an article though. Generally, his research methods were surprisingly quite poor for a Nobel prize winner. Sad thing is that of course plenty of people are hailing him as some Martyred scientist.

China, Japan and Korea together (population 1.6bn) have produced fewer Nobel Prize winners than just Sweden.

Forget Sweden. They haven't even had as many as the University of Chicago.

Before you ask, no Indy wasn't one of the winners.

One university. Take that fingerboard!

Hate to sound like a damned apologist here, but the Nobel prize is given in Sweden - if it were given by a Korean-based organization do you think anyone but Koreans would win it? Also, scholarship and literature that is published in English, or at least in a European language, will attract the attention of the Nobel committees far more than works published in Asian languages. Finally there are many East Asians who win international awards (I don't know about Nobel prizes per se) for work done at Western universities. The fact is that the literature and scholarly work produced in this part of the world has historically received little attention in the West. I'm not suggesting in the least that East Asians deserve to win more Nobel prizes - just that work here gets less attention in the West than work produced at Western institutions. Basically, geographic distribution of Nobel prize winners is a poor indicator of national intelligence.

Asia, or at least Singapore and Hong Kong, are having a fairly robust debate about this:

So........minus copying technology, theory and progression from modern western civilization, what exactly does Asia have to show for......awards (and NOT copying their/his/her work)?

By the way, there are only three races......................caucasion, black and oriental.

Koreans are not a race.
Japanese are not a race.
Swedes are not a race.

It seems to me like race has nothing to do with it: it's what kind of education system you go through. The title is deliberately inflammatory.

I refrain from the school of thought that middle eastern is the same as "asian"; too much difference.

Caucasian, Black, Asian, Indian, Hispanic, Native American.

If you divide into only Caucasian, Asian and blacks, I think middle eastern people are considered Caucasian. I think even Indian people might be considered Caucasian while native Americans might be considered Asian?
