Bangkok's main international airport has cleaned up its act. Immigration now takes just a few minutes thanks to the snake lines they put up.

Before, many complained of missed flights because of horribly long lines at immigration, with waits lasting between one and 2.5 hours. And Russians got blasted for cutting in line (as did Chinese and Koreans).

Just to be safe, you should arrive at least 2.5 hours before your flight if it's international.

Let's hope they implemented that in the arrivals area. There's nothing like landing with the anticipation of a good meal and a cold Singha and then get stuck in that mess at immigration.

I had an easy time getting through immigration when arriving in Bangkok, but yes, it can be horrendous. Most of the negative messages I saw on online boards were before mid-April, and the ones AFTER mid-April had positive things to say because of the snake lines and more security watching for line cutters.

Interesting stat: the Bangkok airport handles 51 million passengers a year but is equipped to do just 45 million.

The airport is what? 5-6 years old? And it is already beyond capacity? Great planning there!
