I'm a college student set to graduate in May, and I'm going to be applying with recruiters in a couple of weeks. I'm sure this question has been covered many times before (900+ pages of threads is kind of a lot), but what are your suggestions as to where to live?
I love cities and having a variety of entertainment/recreation options, and have always wanted to move to "the big city", but having been raised in small to mid-size American cities (my hometown is about 200,000; I go to college outside of Pittsburgh in a town of about 10,000), I'm concerned that plunking myself down in the middle of Seoul might a bit... overwhelming. I've also read that Seoul has some smog issues, and I have a history of respiratory problems, so I figure it's best to just avoid that altogether. On the other hand, I've heard good things about some of the suburbs, i.e. Bundang.
I don't need a ton in the way of nightlife; I never was one to go clubbing. I much prefer to stay in with friends, so a decently sized expat community is a must.
So... yes. Recommendations? |

how about ilsan? it's fairly close to seoul and has a big foreign community. the city isn't that big either so you won't feel overwhelmed. |

you know you are not going to get much in the way of response to your resume without your degree in hand right? The market is flooded with qualified people right now, who have degrees in hand and are ready to go. You might want to just put it on hold until April and start applying in June. |

Your point is well-taken. I just figured the sooner I get my name out there, the better. If I can have something lined up by the time I graduate, that'd be superb, but if that's not how it works, I guess I'll find out. (Sometimes the optimist in me just comes in and takes over.) |

All the optimism in the world isn't going to do anything if you don't have a degree. They NEED that degree, you'll soon discover that. Have fun though. |

I graduated in January but started the process in October, interviewed and was vetted in Novemeber and was told I was hired about 2 weeks after graduation. This was for SMOE. They will consider you without a degree in hand. |
