My hagwon (been here around 6 months) would like me to work a few hours a week at their friends kindergarten. I'm not really interested but said I would consider it if the new school could be added to my ARC.

Difficult? Immigration reluctant to do half-way through contract? What's involved? Revise current contract? Sign a new contract with other school?

Another question: What's the average hourly rate for this sort of additional work? w35,000?

Any help appreciated!

It shouldn't be difficult. There is no need to ammend your current contract. You will need the contract for the second job and permission from your current employer. The only stipulation is the second job must be fewer hours than the first.

I don't think immigration will allow you to add a job to your ARC now. Besides, do you really want to teach babies?

No, I don't want to be dealing with babies so I'm hoping immigration will complicate things.

The school has asked me twice to work at this kindi because they are hoping some of the kids will transfer to their school when they've outgrown the kindi. Shifty situation at my school because they're not doing very well.

Do many kindergartens not have the authorization to employ foreigners directly?

Sorry... but Immi will only complicate things you don't want them to. Wink

35 an hour is a joke. Try 50. Anyway, it's not what you signed up for. If you don't want to do it, don't. Pure and simple. If you would like the extra cash.... Still, you don't know what you're going to get when you go there. Could be hell on wheels.
