| I was just wondering, where in Seoul can I buy an underwater camera? I'm looking for one that can go to a depth of at least 30 meters, preferably 40 meters. I know it's probably the type of thing I'll need to buy new, but does anyone have any suggestions where? Or a decent (lower priced) camera to look for? Thanks. |

| I tried looking for one earlier this year in Korea with no luck. I ended up buying a Intova IC-600 off Ebay for about $250 with shipping (included external flash, a must for pictures below 30 feet, carrying case, 4GB SD card, color filters, mounting gear, etc) |

The Canon d10 is nice, but it can only reach depths of 10 meters. |

during the summer i went to a waterpark. i tried looking for one of those cheap disposable ones - not much luck however. at himart they had a couple of (maybe) panasonics; not sure about the depths though. there were two models (of the same brand/type), one of which had better depth. you could also search at a specialty camera store, like the one at coex; maybe they could point you in the right direction. one guy there spoke ok english when i was there a few months ago.
back to the story at the waterpark: i did end up buying a waterproof case for my regular digital camera. i am not sure of its "depth limit" but it did work fine for me at 1 meter
also, for those other people who may have found this post from google or whatnot looking for waterproof cameras themselves, i did later find some disposable ones at some stationary shops for maybe 10 or 15,000 and then some at the waterparks - perhaps 15 to 25,000.
haha, maybe this post is useless. hopefully it'll help someone in the future though. |

| Are you going on a wreck dive? There's not much to take pictures of at 40 meters. And a cheap point and shoot isn't going to do you much good. As Darkdave says, you are going to need an external flash, a rather big one. If you don't want to spend too much, I would search for proper dive gear that is older and used, as opposed to a little waterproof point and shoot. |

Ba,
I see this thread has popped up again. First I will ask you this question, have you ever tried underwater photography before? Since you are wanting to buy an underwater camera (setup) I am going to presume you have.
But if you have not the first thing I would suggest is talking to a dive shop and seeing if you can rent a underwater camera setup. Some dive shops allow this, other dive shops (diving instructors) will let you use theirs if they are on a dive with you.
When you are doing underwater photography it can be a pain in the butt at first, especially if you do not have good buoyancy control (control of yourself). Also if you are worried about taking pictures all the time, a lot of divers miss out on seeng many great things underwater because they are trying to take pics.
Also remember when diving you have to lug that camera set-up around. Don't get me wrong I love underwater photography and that is why I am saving up for the underwater housing (Ikelite) for my canon kiss x2 (dslr) which will cost me more than $1200.
The email I sent you earlier, if you take a dive with him and I am positive he will let you try out underwater photography with him. Allen is a great guy and a great dive instructor. He helped me with the photography stuff.
Also check out these 2 links and you can start to get an idea of how much a good setup will cost you. (these are two scuba shops I use back in the states)

I am not a big one to buy used equipment for underwater photography. You really don't know if the seals are good and how the person treated the casing, etc.
I hope this helps and if not, oh well....
