I am having a bit of a nostalgia moment for Korean takeaway food, I am in China where the canteen food is complete and utter ModEdit! cold, flies everywhere, same grub day in and day out - I suppose it is ok for 350 won a meal - but I am missing a nice bit of issac toast.
I used to like the one with the burger, slice of cheese and omlette - I didn't mind the sweet paste - sometimes but rarely I would order a ham and cheesuh - would never ever bother with the crappy salad - whats the point?
I am also missing kyochon chicken - that is awesome chicken - no need for condiments - chicken, a box of crappy pickles (which I would always chuck on the pavement outside) and a bottle of pepsi and away you go - awesome taste for 13000 won.
I liked Lotteria too - I don't give a ModEdit about 'In and Out' burgers, they don't have them in England either - I was partial to a hanwoo burger and a European frico cheese - more often that not - at the same time.
Have any of you ordered and ate some of these damn fine tasting foods these past few days? What did you order and where did you eat it? Who with? And did it fill a hole?

I actually do like some of the fast food here they don't have in the states. Like the tower burger at KFC. Who would've thought putting a hashbrown in a burger would taste good?

I also like this. The patty shaped cheese stick works for me. |

Isaac - Ham Cheese Toastuhhh with a strawberry and banana mixed fruit drink
And Gyochon ROCKS! Expensive but highly addictive.
The pat-bin-soo dessert at Isaac is pretty good too.
The Isaac I used to go to in Seoul had a pretty cool owner. One day I saw an Audi TT parked outside (pretty incredible for Seoul). He gave me a ride in it! We were flying up and down these tiny little streets since he was trying to show me how powerful it was! |

Aaaah! Use the food trash can, Bog! In theory, those pickles should be bio-degradable, but who knows?
Hmmm, food. I do miss a good burger sometimes, and being an American (sorry in advance), Lotteria does not really count. But, I can't eat wheat (gluten), so I enjoy the rice burger at Lotteria, with lettuce, cucumbers and juicy condiments, and large fries on the side smothered in ketchup - yum. I think I may go out and have one of those for breakfast soon.
Since I am gluten intolerant, my options are very limited in Korea, but I do love to eat. I love dolsot bibimbap, with ample gochaung (sp), crackling rice in the pot as they walk it over to you - which I let sit a bit just to have the slightly crunchy underside of the rice form, to contrast with the soft rice texture, and mix it all up into a creamy blend with the veggies, gochaung, raw egg that cooks in the pot, and side dishes like spicy potatoe and veggies ... that is my comfort food in Korea.
I also love Kimchi Jiggae, and the way the pepper broth totally warms you up with this great, radiating pepper heat from the inside out.
And last night, we had a great bottle of French Cab Sav (that we got from Paris Baguette - they carry French wine now, and European chocolates! - and sat outside on a beautiful, warm fall night, and let the fince chocolates and their varied textures and flavors melt in our mouths, washed down with full-bodied but not sweet red ..... yum .....
This thread could easily turn into food porn. |

Please don't tell me they took their name from Isaac Durst...
They're not bad for the basic one for W1.000 if you're tired, poor and hungry.
TwoTwo chicken rocks, haven't ordered yet -I'm letting the expectation build. Maybe next month. |

"Sa ooh seu (sauce) bae ko yo."
Works for me.
Also: "Oke soo soo baek oh yo" means 'no corn'. Comes in handy when ordering pizza, toast, salad, a hamburger, a beer, train tickets, or coffee....get it? 'Cause they put corn in everything here?
