Sorry if this has been asked/talked about before.
I have an E7 Visa as i work at an international school.
I heard that it is legal to teach privates on an E7...
does anyone know if this is true?

I was in the exact same situation not too long ago. As far as I know, private tutoring is still illegal for E-7 visas. Now, what you might could do, is do after school tutoring for some students and then get paid by the administration.

Why is the same question asked over and over again? Privates are illegal on any Visa...E or F. Koreans can't do it legally unless they have a tutors licence. Maybe the mods should make (another) sticky.

Thanks.
How does one apply for a tutors license?
And do you pay regular income tax rates on the extra income?

I guess you don't work at a top tier international school, or you would be working more for the salaries they offer.

Private tutoring is illegal. What I am curious of is do you really care, and more importantly, does your school care? If you are one of the smaller international schools they will probably hear about your "extra" activities.

EDIT: Looking at your posting history, hawgwon and SMOE....I am guessing SMOE fell through and you landed something with an E7. So my advice stands, do it if you feel you won't get caught. I don't see how you can get such a license on an E-7 as you are sponsored by your school and therefore you have much less job mobility as someone on an F-visa.
