There is a final scene after the credits so be sure to stay to see it.
I recently watched the movie and thought it was pretty good. It's basically
a concert on film.

the film reminded me of how his artistry is essentially not in music per se but in performance: in the synergetic combining of music with dance, in expression, the movement of sound and body together, each reinforcing and enhancing the other

dang, i walked out halfway through the credits
the first half of the film was pretty decent but it did start to get tiring around the Jackson 5 part

It's interesting that Fred Astaire never wanted his life to be portrayed on film.
Astaire has never been portrayed on film. He always refused permission for such portrayals, saying, "However much they offer me and offers come in all the time I shall not sell." Astaire's will included a clause requesting that no such portrayal ever take place; he commented, "It is there because I have no particular desire to have my life misinterpreted, which it would be."

It's unfortunate what happened to M.J. It's also unfortunate so many people think you're done @ 40 and dead @ 50. At what I've chosen to be and do, I've never been better. And I've got witnesses. 52 ain't through. Not even close. Fred and Ginger rocked long and hard! And I ain't talkin' no ballroom dancing either. You tube it and see for yourself. No funny camera angles or trickery. Just pure, blazing skill. Whenever I need a reminder of what can and can't be done, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers give me those goose bumps and chill up my spine. M.J. had that too. It's a rare commodity to be able to mave people like he could. Very few performers in history have had it. You can't buy it, you're born with it! Don't believe what you hear, judge for yourself. M.J. wasn't done either. An idiot killed him. Damn drugs again. Except for weed, which I have to give a pass, I wish they were all gone. Sorry if I've offended. If you're in your 20's now, get busy at what you do. You'll be REAL good at 50! Would I want to be 20 again? Not in this time. Now if it was 1967............ |
