I'm acquiring a lot of this Korean won change. Can I just go to any local Korean bank, give all my change to the teller, ask them to process it for me and then get bills in return? |

Can you change these to american/candian/Australian/NZ/ dollars (or pounds).
Most banks, if they don't have at least one English speaker, have a help line they will call |

Hand them the bag of coins and say "Change this to bills please." They will know what you mean, even if they don't speak English.
I'm not sure if you have to sort the change into separate denominations. I did, just because I wanted to know how much I had. The machine can probably tell the difference. |

Some banks won't do it unless you have an account with them. |

I get this done every few months, once my change adds up to something worth the trip.
Just make sure you've got them all separated i.e... 500 in one bag/jar/box, 100 in another.
Anything less than 100 isn't worth it unless you've got 50 lbs of them or something. I have an old mayo jar that's only half full with nearly 3 years worth of the less than 100 coins. I'll probably just leave it for whoever moves in after me. I'm sure it's not worth a few thousand won, if that.
There is a small fee you have to pay to get it done. Not much though. Less than a chunwon I think. |
