I'm very worried about my last weeks in Korea. My boss didn't pay my pension correctly. I get paid 2.2 million won and my boss reported that I only make 1.5 million won. I went to the pension office and found out that he didn't pay a won of it yet. The pension office is doing an investigation on it. I'm brining my contract to prove my starting date and my salary.
He is kicking me out of my apartment 2 weeks early. He says that he doesn't have to money to pay my year bonus unless he gets it. I have no choice but to move to my friends apartment.
He still owes me for my for my $700 plane ticket to Korea (only a year late). So I have to worry about 800,000 won plane ticket + 2.4 million pension + 2.2 million last pay check + 2.2 million bonus. That's about 7.6 million won that I stand to lose. I'm going crazy.
I'm really pissed about the housing but I can live with it. I think the pension will be okay after I show them proof. However, if he refuses to pay my last paycheck and my bonus, what can I do? Is there some legal authority that I can call? Thanks. |

Gather all your paperwork, including salary statements, your contract, and anything and everything else you think would be relevent to your case. Get that stuff notarized. Go to legal outlets: Immi, Labor Board, etc. |

Sorry to say this but I agree ^^^. I think he's gonna screw you out of pension, ticket and severance bonus.
Be prepared for that. I might not happen, but be prepared.
A common trick is to tell you 'oh you'll have it next week.' then whne it doesn;;t arrive 'oh one more week.'
They know you have to leave the country soon so they try and play the waiting game.
If you don't have it all after a week of your last day, go to the Labour office and file a complaint and then go to immigration and get an extension on your visa (you only have about a week after end of contract to stay in Krea, but you can extend this) and tell them that it's to wait out your Labour Office action. But be warned, these can be very leangthy.
Better to go and see him, show him the Labour Office forms and show him the visa extension, tell him you've reported him to the Pension office and Labor office for not being truthful about your salary and pension payments. Shoow him you are confident and you know what you are doing and he'll probably freak out and give in as he won't want officials sniffing around and the bad reputation.
Usually works. Korea is dog eat dog and any sign of weakness is pounced on.
Be prepared for some weird crap though. I once did the above after getting screwed over and was kidnapped and locked in an office.... |
