well there are some people selling them here but i'm sure they're in hot demand because you can now register them with the korean telecom commission (or whatever the name is).

your best bet is to order an unlocked one off ebay in america. there are services to have it shipped worldwide (if not from the seller, there are third parties willing to do it for a charge). buying it from another country, like in Korea or China will prove to be very expensive - probably the same as in France.

Best place to buy an iPhone right now is probably Hong Kong. Go down to Mong Kok electronics area, i saw probably 3 iPhone stores in one block. They sell them unlocked and they're the official Apple resellers. Don't ask me how that works...it's Hong Kong.

Check out iphoneinkorea.com (or something similar to that). They'll explain that you can use it in Korea if you register it with their network (through the government). The cost for fees/testing is about 350,000 won. You may sign up with either SK or KTF, however both networks give poor quality so far. Calls are dropped, text messages lost, and other problems may arise. If you regsiter with KTF, the website says, you'll get extra stuff (like a case) and better rates on plans. Personally, having the iPhone in korea isn't worth it just yet. I'd wait until Apple starts selling 'em here. Good luck to you.

Thank you for the information, it's better to wait for some more time. It's not worth to buy the testing service, also the fee is too high.

Where did you read that the Korean iPhone won't have WI-FI? I'm betting it will and does.

i've never seen it directly written that the iphone won't have wifi, but most, if not all, korean phones have the wifi turned off. ok, now that i think about it there are exceptions. i think the blackberries have wife. check out the technology forum for info on that -- as well as on the iphone.
