|
|
I wanted to send messages to some people Ive seen on this site who are actors, however newbies cannot send messages. So I shall just post and see who says what.
At the end of my contract Im hoping to switch from teaching in Korea to acting. I am aware you need an entertainers visa.
But havent really fingured out how to get one.
I read you dont have to be great looking as long as you get some good professional photos for your portfolio.
Is this true? I am fairly ordinary looking, however I am tall, blond, and blue eyed. But a male, which Im sure there are far less jobs for.
My Korean is basic. How good does it need to be to get work?
Are there talent agencies I should go through?
If so, anyone got a URL?
As a beginner, how often can I expect work and for what kind of pay?
Do I need to move to Seoul? (I live in Korea but not Seoul)
Thats all the questions I can think of for now. I just think this would be a fun change for me, and would fit my personality.
thanks in advance to anyone who answers my questions. |

One thing I can tell you is to learn Korean. A friend of mine is fairly-regular working actor in Korea and he is by no means a "looker". 5'8", kind of chubby, 37 years old, and balding - but he gets commercials and is a regular on some TV series, and also had small parts in movies. The thing is that he is nearly fluent in Korean and this helps in his getting work. |

Go to www.worknplay.co.kr and you'll find some ads in the PT job area searching for actors. |

I looked at the link, there were a lot of listings of agencies who said your visa doesnt matter. So it sounds real fishy to me. From what I heard you can get deported and banned from Korea for 2 years for doing acting work with the wrong visa. And unlike some of the other illegal work foriegners do, acting is checked up on more by immigration, as its so visable. |

By any chance is your friend from Virginia? I forgot his name but met him while doing a very little part in IRIS. His Korean was pretty incredible. |
