I've been narrowing down my search for a job and some of them are evening shifts, even though I'm looking for a morning one.
To those who have worked evening shift (i.e. 2-8 ), was it all that bad? This would be a year, so I'm wondering if I'm going to be hating it after awhile.
I've never worked evenings in my life, I just want to get some input from others who have done it before. Thanks. |

If you can be productive in the a.m. evening are great. It has been my experience that people who work evening usually evolve into this type of lifestyle:
Work until 9pm.
Bars until 1am.
Pizza and Xbox 360 until 5am
Sleep until noon.
Rinse and repeat. |

I absolutely love working 4:00-11:00. It is nice being able to workout at night with no one to bother or stare at you. There is a peaceful quality that doesn't exist during the day hours. I guess it all depends what kind of person you are. I don't think I could have it any other way. You do have to find a way to be productive at night though, or you will get stuck in a bad routine. |

It might also be worth bearing in mind that many of your friends etc will also be working evening shifts and therefore if you finish at 5 you will be alone and have no one to eat with or meet till 8 anyway.
Personally i hate when i have deskwarm and work 9-5 because i spend so long sitting around in the afternoons waiting for everyone else to finish work so i can go to dinner with them or go do whatever.
It depends on how discplined you can be with yourself, but personally i work 11-7 and i like it that way. You can get all your jobs etc done in the morning and then just chill out or see people in the evenings, if you work 9-5 its much harder to do things like go to the post office or the bank.
If you are likely to get sucked into the bars till late at night then maybe a 9-5 would be better but there are people in my town who work a 9-5 and still spend every night in the bar! |

2-8 is awesome! we call that the afternoon shift. I worked 3-9 in a hagwon for over three years and it was fantastic. Then I worked three years from 2-6 (twice a week until 7:30) and it was equally as great
anytime you can get every class BACK-to-BACK it is good, the time speeds along, and it only takes a couple of weeks to get into the routine
having every morning, ALL morning off, is a real energy booster. and to be done work by 8pm with plenty of dinner time thereafter? sweet
it'll seem like you have two days in one, the first half to yourself and the second half teaching |
