Hi guys!
Does anyone know where to find a good film camera and lens market in and around Seoul? I'm looking for a lens for my Pentax k-mount still film camera and am not sure where to turn for the non high-tech things here.
I've heard rumours of film camera gold mines but have had no conclusive leads yet.
Can anybody point me in the right direction? |

Go to the Namdaemun Gate (the one being rebuilt) area. On the corner are quite a few camera shops selling new and used gear. It is just at the edge of the market area itself.
This is where the first camera shops were established in Seoul. You should find what you need there, or they can give you leads. |

There is no goldmine, but check out Chungmuro (quite a few second hand camera stores there, most of the gear is film), and also Namdaemun, the shops are easier to find there.
Don't expect much encouragement from shop owners. If you find a second hand camera shop with a friendly helpful owner, post the details please! |

I second the Chungmuro area for second hand stuff, more so than Namdaemun.
A friendly place is www.saeki.co.kr , a photo supermarket (mostly for darkroom/studio stuff) but they also carry a good selection of 2nd hand film stuff, too. A few of their salesmen speak decent enough english, as do many of their pro photog customers you will run into there. Their website gives their exact location on a map and all the other places are a stone's throw away from there. (clik on "희사소개" link on the bottom of the page for the map)
Also, have you checked auction.co.kr? Some good deals can be found there for film-related hardware and you can pretty much figure it out even if you don't know Korean. (Just type what you want in English into the search function) |
