I have been trying to organize all my documentation while I am in New Zealand and had to send a New Zealand fingerprint form to the RCMP in Ottawa for my CRC with a vulnerable sector check. They returned it saying it couldn't be used for a vulnerable sector check. My Dad even asked his high level RCMP friend who even asked RCMP Olympic security and they couldn't even make sense of what Ottawa wanted!

Does my CRC need the VSC ??? There seems to be a lot of conflicting info on this floating around.

And how can I go about getting it if they don't accept the NZ fingerprint form which is what they asked for in the first place?

Cheers

You don't need it, unless things have changed yet again?? Confused

http://www.winnipeg.ca/police/BPR/info_request.stm#crim_record_search

Here's the site, I applied on-line, paid by credit card and they sent it to me by mail in a couple of weeks (in Korea).

you dont need it, but some immi official that screens your application may not be aware of that and could deny your visa. immi is full of uninformed or misinformed staff that make decisions on a whim that sometimes dont take the actual rules into consideration.

if you can give them extra, why not? it makes it more difficult for them to deny you.

Some Waygun-in,

How were you able to pay and order online? I'm looking at their website and I can only see where you print off the pdfs and mail them. So even if I'm from New Brunswick, the Winnipeg police will do my CRC? Do you have to tell them what school you're applying for? I'm just trying to get my documents together.

I've also heard that the Kingston, Ontario police station will do police checks pretty easily. Not sure if they do vulnerable sector searches though.

I used CBM Paralegal Services at http://www.cbmpara.ca/ to get my criminal background check, which included a vulnerable sector check. They use a police station in Nova Scotia that is very quick at issuing them.

It doesn't matter what province or city you get your police check done at. They all use a Canada-wide database for their searches.

You will have to get the check notarized by the Canadian embassy before it will be accepted by Korean immigration.

Don't need a VSS, so if you have your CRC, use that rather than ordering another one.

Sorry, it was a while back. I forgot how I did it. Embarassed I had to print out the forms and mail them along with my credit card number and photocopies of the required ID.

I hope that helps.
