|
|
I have a lot of experience in EFL, and have been teaching Korean privates in South East Asia for a few years.
I've never taught in Korea and have never had an E-2.
Education:
BA
TEFL Cert
Started Masters (not finished & won't finish)
Experience:
8 years.
Kids, TOEFL, TOEIC, GE, Business English
How is the market now? Is there a flood of newbies that have arrived because of the economic downturn of the West?
I know Korea is a little slow now.
Note* I am not very interested in a Hogwon, as some are good and many seem to be.....not so good.
I understand all of the steps about the Consulate interview and my background is clean, and my docs, real.
So....Uni in a small town? Private school?
I don't know much about GEPIK, and the other one for public.
Any honest info, greatly appreicated. |

Time for a bump.
With only a BA, do I have any chance at a Uni?
If a Hogwan is good (meaning: has resources, and are honest, then that's an option.)
I read and lurk here a lot. I am doing my homework. Promise. |

You said you been doing the research.
Well, you'd know then that appearance, age, sex and nationality plays a part in Korean hiring practice.
How are you in those criteria?
If you are an American Barbie doll, a Uni job is a good possibility. |

You have many years of experience and have at least started at master's degree. Yes, you could probably get a Uni job, though how good it would be is hard to say.
Why don't you plan on finishing your master's? |

I am fully aware of the Korean and East Asian "practices" in this regard.
I am white/caucasian
39 but look like I'm 30-35
regular looks (not ugly)
blue eyes, short brown hair.
can dress in a suit, etc., when needed
Thanks for the Uni possibility |

Thanks for info.
I would do an online only program, then.
Is online only acceptable?
But I sincerely doubt I'll finish the Master's. The motivation is not there at this time. You gotta have motivation. |

Go after what you want I'd say.
Apply for uni jobs. You'll get plenty of knock backs but come March some will be desperate to put up a body in front of the students, even MA-less bodies.
It's been known to happen before. Hope for the best!
