|

Evening all,
Just to give you abit of background I have recently started a teaching job with a high school in Korea. I have limited teaching experience and have been tasked with producing all my lessons completely from scratch and running these with virtually no help at all.
I have seriously struggled to find any good websites that have everything laid out and ready to go for a lesson. In the past five weeks I have been choosing a topic and making my own dialogue, worksheets and activities. Its been ok so far but I seriously doubt I can keep it up for the rest of my contract.
Im in need of some ideas. The high school has a textbook for the first and second grade but it is of absoluate no use at all. What I need is a good quality textbook for my first and second grade classes. The level of English is basic at best. Would anyone please be able to point me in the right direction? |

Academic HS: English Communication I and II by Putlack and Cho.
Vocational / tech. HS: any phonics, spelling, or word games for ages four and up. Perhaps Oxford's Up and Away in Phonics. |

I've been using II and can also recommend it.

Yu_Bum_suk and Bob_ Salad thank you so much for the recommendations. I will definately be getting my hands on these text books as it seems like they are what I am looking for.
Ive not had much chance to speak to High School teachers over here. Everyone I seem to meet is in Elementary!
Would you be able to recommend any websites that you have found useful for teaching high school students?
Thanks again |

Tell Me More by Andrew Finch. It's worked wonders in my hs. |

Dodgy Al that has to be by far the most complete resource of teaching plans ive seen on the internet that are actually suitable for my kids. Thanks so much for sharing it with me. With that and the text books I am feeling alot more confident about what I will be teaching over the coming months.
I was wondering do any of you have experience running high school summer camps? Any advice you could throw my way about these would be great. For seven days I will have a 2 hour lesson with about 20 students total from all three grades so a very mixed ability class. Im looking for ideas for the lessons if im honest. I don't have the experience yet to know what does and doesn't work at this level so any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I've been using Speaking for Everyday Life 1/2 (Fisher/Stuart) and it's gone well, especially with the 1st graders.
I should warn you that 2nd grade high school kids are NOTHING like juniors in the states--it's the best year of high school to teach in america, and the worst in korea! |
