I didn't press any buttons, didn't change anything, didn't drop it... sound has always been fine- I listened to music on it an hour ago. Now it's gone. And yes, I've checked the volume controls...

Any ideas??

i had a problem yesterday after id installed some updates which happens to my computer occasionally, whereby my device (click on the little speaker on the toolbar, then mixer, then device) had changed from the usual 'High Definition Audio' to SPDIF High Definition Audio (i think its some digital thing) and this meant there was no sound at all.

I did a good old restart and that reset it back to normal.

good luck

Thanks for the help. I can't seem to access 'mixer' and 'device' from the volume icon on my toolbar (you mean those icons in the bottom right hand corner, right?).

Just noticed the speakers and headphones work, but the internal speakers don't...

Andddd... as I was typing this, everything started working again. Weird.
