To people that are familiar with Kia and Hyundai used cars, ( no SUV'S)
I am looking to buy a used car when I get back to the states and I realize driving conditions are different here than in America. I am looking for a car that will fit a 6 ft male comfortably. I will not have a lot of money so I am looking to spend the most of 5,000.00 ( I know that is not alot) I want to make sure the vehicle has no history of major constant problems. Example: most important, transmission, brakes, engine etc. Which type of car and model (Kia or Hyundai) and what year of that car's model should I stay away from that has constant problems? I hear a used Kia is cheaper than an used Hyundai, but what about headaches afterwards? |

I'd recommend the Hyundai Sonata, 1999-2002 edition. So-so resale values will make it a steal now. You could probably find it for 5k and under. My friend's dad had one in white. You still see many of them on the road here as taxis or family sedans. In terms of room, theres plenty of it in terms of head, leg and shoulder space. Rear head room is tight because of the curved C-pillar. The rear seats also fold for more trunk space. More reliable than a Kia of the same era, IMO. |
