| I'm a picky eater. I can't find them in the big stores (costco, emart, homeplus.) Anyone know of any other place? If not, what is a good goat cheese substitute on soup or salads? I live in between busan and daegu so someplace in that area would be nice. Thanks. |

The international market in Itaewon often has shallots, just to the right of the cheese fridge, on the bottom shelf.
You may be able to buy chevre at the Star Super in Daehi. Their selection of imported cheeses is really inconsistent...sometimes they'll have some really nice, stinky cheese from France...but not often. They might order something for you if you can show them a picture or ask in Korean.
My wife found a site that sells cheese online...but it's all in Korean. Expect to pay about 20-25 for 200-250 grams. |

| Emart has goat's milk, maybe you could make cheese from it in your bath tub? |

Shallots-local open markets
Feta-Costco or hit and miss at EMart and the like (half Feta, half oil and peppercorns). There used to be a 1 month quarantine on cheese products which partly explained the lack of dairy goods-as well as tariffs, mark-ups and not much local interest in non-plastic cheese. Korean TV cooking shows will have expensive cuts of meat...with plastic cheese
Have also seen Goats milk at Emart, I'd try making my own Feta. |

Yes but which shallots? We have established that the green onion kind are easily found here, but I have a hunch everyone is working on finding the french mini-onion kind that braise deliciously and pack delicious flavour to any roasted meal. |

Just see what's available, sometimes there are surprises. Of course it's hit and miss. Just finding red onions can be like that. I don't know if shallots are used in any styles of Korean cooking. The below says they are but I don't know.

Otherwise, Costco. Hit and miss again. Ask a restaranteur where they source theirs.
As it is, Koreans don't roast. |

The Feta I mentioned before was there-W6600
Shallots-W6780 for 6 with one bigger one.
A lot of their stuff they've bought from Costco then slapped on an extra 1500-2000. eg Tinned diced tomatoes are W8000 for a box of 8 at Costco, they're selling them for W3000 a pop. Rye bread comes in packs of 2 at Costco for W5000, they're seliing them for 4000? each.
Some stuff I think they just got a mate to send over in a "care package", so they're selling 250gram German coffee for 15K
Guess they have a captive market of sorts with embassies and wotnot about.
Some different hot sauces, NZ butter and a few rip-off Euro beers |
