|
|
Here's my situation:
1. Want a Uni gig, preferably in law/biz English but straight EFL is cool too, especially if the hours/location are right
2. Quite frankly, a bit too busy (and not Koreanly fluent enough) to do all the cold-calling/emailing to figure out who is hiring (legal) and getting a bit frustrated with Unis not really getting it (e.g., questions like "what is a J.D.?" "where's your thesis?" (you don't do one for a J.D., you do other types of research/papers), etc.).
3. Wouldn't mind someone doing all the ESL paper-bombing for me.
So does anyone know of recruiters who do the college job search for you or a place to look for them? I've got everything in nice digital format including a skeletal cover letter that can be easily customized. I'm happy even to pay a reasonable fee on this end.
Thanks

Universities don't use recruiters. |

I know that. What I mean is someone digs through the posts for me, then gives me the info (weeding out the colleges I'm not interested in or don't qualify for as I've given them my paramenters), then they print and I sign the ap packets. (Or even I can print and sign but the list of law departments to cold-call is going to be about 6 pages.) More like an Agent, if you will--like I said, I'm happy to be the one paying them.
While you're here responding, any advice for those of us who can't go drop off resumes in person? I'm in rural Korea working 5 days a week so unless the office is open on Saturday (and I want to spend my whole Saturday) the personal appearance is not going to happen. |

You're going to have to do that yourself. Univ's get so many responses. Print out your materials and start sending -- quickly, before it's too late. |

About a month ago there was a 9-hour per week university job for teaching Law.
It sounded like a good job... it might have expired by now.
If I have a moment I'll go back for and search the list, but I'm really busy today so I can't gaurantee I'll find it. |

Found it... Konkuk University...
http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea/index.cgi?read=39246
Teach (American) law...
6-9 hours per week...
Female preferred...
I think they want a US citizen...
Here's the kicker... must be available for a face-to-face interview...
My recommendation is call them and start kissing their a$$. If you good and they start to realize it, then they might let you come on a Saturday... OR, they might let you do it over webcam.
Or, if you really want to get a job, I guess you need to find a way to get there during the week....
As others said, you will need to give a face-to-face interview in most situations.
I'll wait for my agent commission cheque. |

Already emailed them ... twice ... still waiting for any sign of life. (I actually went there one Saturday trying to give face time and the admin offices were closed.) I give you 10% of everything they've given me so far. Check's in the mail.
I can clear time for face-to-faces on Saturday and even burn sick days during the week if it's looking serious but I can't go to 20 colleges dropping of ap packets. |

A thank you might suffice. |
