I was on the subway earlier today and noticed a white girl (kinda hard not to in a sea of asians) sitting. I thought she was attractive looking and after reading all the posts about how ajushis mess with foreign girls, it didn't surprise me to see it happen although this was the first time I've actually witnessed with my own eyes. A creepy looking ajushi with one of those masks stood directly in front of her, said something in Korean and just stared at her. The girl's expression was not one of approval, but she just grimaced and said nothing. I'm guessing this wasn't anything new for her.

Then, another ajushi went up to the creepy ajushi and told him to stop it. Then they started yelling at eachother. It surprised me to see an ajushi stick up for a foreigner, much less a foreign woman. So, bravo to you ajushi, who for once isn't a creep.

Indeed, bravo that ajeossi....

...I'm of the opinion that the vast majority of Koreans are well-mannered, kind and considerate people who hate to see how the uncouth piggish minority makes them look bad.

Little did you know that after you got off the train, he seduced her with his show of gallantry and took her back to his place.

I can't be too sure since I was at a distance but I think the conversation went something like, "Why are you bothering the foreigner."
"How do you know she's being bothered?"
"She looks like it."
"I just wanted to know if she can speak Korean."
Then I heard some yelling as the good ajushi was getting off the train, which happened to be the same stop as mine.

Seems there's an increase in advertising campaigning for Koreans to be polite to each other and to foreigners.

haha, perhaps they were actually con-men working together as a team, putting on a good ajosshi/bad ajosshi act so that the good ajosshi could get in her pants.

I always make ajeosshi friends on the subway. It's usually always just friendly. That having been said, when one starts shouting at me in English (they seem to have to talk louder when speaking English...), all the other surrounding Koreans usually cringe with embarrassment. I don't usually mind, though. It's like having a million grandpas.

I had an incident on a bus late at night where a Korean man who drank too much Whiskey sat right beside me and started badgering me about who knows what, just giving me a hard time and making a bit of a scene. He didn't like that I had my foot up on the bar in front of me (I've seen many Korean do this).

SUDDENLY, another man (Korean) at the back of the bus started yelling at this drunk guy in a threatening way! He came and sat right behind us and continued to yell at him and the guy just shut right up. One girl sitting behind me got scared and moved right to the back of the bus.

The guy got off at the same stop as me (the nice guy) and said "Sorry you had to go through that"

The episode was nothing I couldn't handle, but I thanked him anyway..

Thats why ajosshi hero intervened.

Do you think he could've cared less if it was someone less attractive, a bangladeshi migrant worker or worse, a white guy? My guess is he's been watching triple episodes of "chats with beauties".

Yup, Seoul, especially, is a bubbling, concentrated cauldron of all things Korean. You meet the weirdest people in big cities--and Seoul is no exception. I go through days and days of meeting a lot of nice Koreans, and then back to back, I meet some really strange, parasitic, opera singing, screaming, shouting, bubble headed Koreans that break the spell. Then it's the nice folks again. Randomness writ large.
