Okay

I had one interview with a university a couple of weeks ago and a few more, of varying status coming up.

The first interview wanted my bankbook, to pay "communication expenses," which the amount they offered (shimman) was enough to cover ... a lot more than I did. Another U has offered "travel expenses" (sadly barely enough to comp my burned day to that location).

Questions:

1. How common is it for Unis or K-employers in general to pay an interviewee for showing up?

2. Do they actually pay these promised sums or is it more business "Korean style," and how long do they take? (It's been a few weeks ...)

3. What's an average sum if they do so? Is it negotiable based on distance/inconvenience?
