The closest one to me is in Atlanta, Georgia. I don't think I could realistically get there and interview anytime soon. Is there some other way to do this? I didn't realize how difficult this part of the process would be. |

Ask the consulate if they will accept a video of you saying:
"Korea number one."
"Korea has four seasons - winter, spring, summer and fall... autum same same."
"Kimchie is spicy."
"Japan very bad."
"I want to teach in Korea because I admire Lee Sun-shin."
You will be a 'shoe in'. |

I did an interview at the atlanta consulate with a kid from Miami. He said he'd tried to work something out, but they weren't having it. He flew up, stayed in a hotel downtown, and was pissed when the guy talked to him for less than 2 minutes. Good thing is there are a lot of flight deals going on now, so it shouldn't be to costly. |

I spoke to the head lady and she said there was no way out of it. You probably can take a real early flight, I believe Delta goes in to Hatfield sp Airport and there is a train from the airport that takes you to the building. |

Why do you have to go to the Atlanta consulate? Does the Miami one not do interviews?
Miami
201 S. Biscayne Bl., Suite 800,
Miami , FL 33131.
(305) 372-1555, FAX (3095) 371-6559
I am hoping I can just drive down to Miami vs all the way to Atlanta. |

the san francisco office doesnt require interviews, and will process it for you. they tell you that you should send in your documents and then they will inform you if you need to haev an interview or not, but no one i know has been required to go for one. and they didnt live in cali either, one was from washington and the seattle consulate was all booked, so they mailed it in to sf. just call around to all the consulates in the country, some do some dont require interviews. |

When I was thinking of working in a private school, I looked into the consulates and remember reading that Atlanta was the closest one. Even though I am at a public school, I still had to send my information for my visa and had to send it to Atlanta. Unless they JUST opened the one in Miami, you will probably have to go to Atlanta. |

Yeah, did that one just open? It's right near Bayfront Park (and where the Royal Palm Hotel used to be, loved my South Florida history classes). Just across the river from the Japanese consulate too.
Makes my application a lot easier if it comes to it. |

Remember - when you're up to your ass in 'gators the objective is to drain the swamp... and there'll be someone claiming to 1/64 Seminole. |

There used to be a Korean consulate in Miami, but it closed down during the IMF crisis in '97. Perhaps that is the address you found. Or they could have reopened one in the few months. |

Which Visa are you applying for? I would do Spirit Airlines as you can usually get a deal for $150 roundtrip with their coupon codes via email or advertised. Otherwise, it's 6 hours to drive there... Mapquest it. I think the Consulate is 10-15 min away from the airport, so either rent a car or take a taxi. I would also stay an extra night for fun! =P |
