Curious story. I'm wondering if they were tourists or 'businessmen' of some sort.

http://world.kbs.co.kr/english/news/news_In_detail.htm?No=68167

<The bodies of two Korean men were found on a beach near the Cebu Islands in the Philippines on Sunday night.

The two have been identified as 40-year-old Yang, from Gapyong, Gyeonggi Province and 41-year-old Choi from Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province.

The local police say the deaths may have been a result of gang violence.

The bodies were found with multiple stab and gunshot wounds.

The Korean embassy sent a police consul to the site of the accident early Tuesday morning to look into the deaths. >

It confirms what a taxi driver there told me last year - "We used to tolerate their arrogance, drunkenness and rudeness; now we just kill them and dump the bodies out in the province."

Amazingly, I am yet to hear a single positive comment made by a Filipino in Cebu about the hordes of Koreans who visit there (other than those made by bar girls who call them "1,2,3 men": one minute of sex with a two inch *beep* and they pay three times too much, for some reason).

And, of course, a topic on two dead Koreans IMMEDIATELY results in a comment about how it just HAS TO BE Korea's fault. Absolutely charming.

I don't want to judge those men. We don't know the story. However, some Koreans in regards to their attitudes vis-a-vis people from poorer countries remind me of some Gulf Arabs who have similar attitudes in some cases. I don't mean to generalize people in either locale, but people need some political correctness in those countries and to be told not to look down on folks just because they're poor. Korea used to be extremely poor. The Phillipines used to send the country money.

Lets see what the Filippino's think...

Frankly, I don't have a high opinion of Koreans. They're arrogant. They're rude. And they're so f**king racist!

I SOOOOOO can't stand them it's gotten to a point that if I so much as see people using Korean automobiles and mobile phones I feel like going berserk from all this anger and hatred.

I hate Sam Oh and I hate those overly dramatic Korean dramas on TV. I hate Korean tourists. I hate Koreans coming to our country to learn English. I hate Koreans who have the nerve to discriminate and bar Filipinos from the businesses they set up in the Philippines. I hate Koreans who've all pretty much had plastic surgery but have the nerve to call Southeast Asians, Filipinos included, ugly because of their brown skin color.

I hate the KOrean wave. I hate Koreans! Period.

There are posts like the above....balanced by those like below..

People come from all walks of life and all races. Now those koreans you've mentioned are ignorants and somewhat misinformed about other cultures, and I'm sure you don't want to lower yourself to their level. It would be better to educate yourself and train yourself to be more civilized, di ba? Let us not judge a group of people by the actions of a few.
I wonder what happened that made you that way?? is it through experience?

Wow, that was some kind of "accident"! Shocked

It's hard to believe they would have been murdered like that for simply being rude or obnoxious.
We may never know, but I'd like to find out more about what happened there.

These four Koreans involved in that incident deserves to be deported. If not allowing Filipinos inside their shop right here in our own country is not discrimination, then what can we call that?"

Yes...Koreans set up a shop in Cebu and actually barred Philippinos from shopping in it !! Rolling Eyes RAOFLMAO

Lots of taxi drivers (and a couple of hotel and bar owners) I have talked to in the Philippines have told me that they no longer serve Koreans because of their behavior.

I no longer tell people there that I live/work in Korea because the conversation then generally turns to "how can you stand to live/work in Korea?" It is easier just to lie and say I work in the USA.

What's the big deal? Just tell them you work in Korea for the money, since that's apparently why you do it.

Most people understand the concept of being paid. I don't see why it needs to become some greater issue.

In Korea, after the people became somewhat wealthy, many began to look down on others. Again, it's not all Koreans, but too many. Of course, arrogance is not relegated to just Koreans. I mean many people in America are arrogant vis-a-vis other countries and cultures, which is probably hidden behind how some got outraged over Obama showing respect to the emperor of Japan, because America is America, and it's number one, and you have a think tank called, "Project for the New American Century". Some act like America is the only democracy in the world. You have Europeans talking about arrogant Americans, but, as tourists, Americans don't have the reputation of Koreans. People also have problems with British tourists. In Greece, the Greeks feel disgusted with them, and they get drunk and grab women and cause all kinds of problems. Gulf Arabs are often unwelcomed as tourists in Morocco and Turkey. The Israelis are considered amongst some of the rudest tourists by some.

We have a world with many countries where people have attitude problems. I think American tourists generally enjoy a much better reputation than Korean ones.

Anyway, regardless, guys, these guys were killed. Being rude doesn't mean you should be killed no matter where you're from. I don't know why they were killed and neither do you. I don't think killing is the way to go. It's one thing if they killed some Pinoys or Pinays and people retaliated. I doubt that's what happened. Show some sensitivity.

Agreed you should not be killed for being rude or too dressed up.

This could had been any tourists including us, but acting with arrogance on a pedistal in the outdoors can get you in big trouble with the lowest scums of life. The great outdoors is not the place to be getting all fancy panted up though the Koreans are into all this fancy shiny new hi tech gear I'd never wear in places not geared towards educated executive types. Only in Korea, Europe, or a high class resort would I use that nice new geek stuff. For example, I wouldn't wear Polo nor anything shiny in South Asia and other less developed places like Egypt or small town USA nor any haute couture like common in Korea nor expensive jewelry such as a Rolex. Cheap stuff can also look pricey too in the styling. I always thought my life and wallet depended a lot on how I presented myself though we don't know how the Koreans dressed, but do know they love to bling out. Even in the outdoor gear department.

I was always aware that I could just get slaughtered tromping around in wierd places, but do it with modesty and humility instead of presenting myself as a member of the elite class from a proud elitist developed country. I believe this has saved my life a time or two in my many risky adventures. The rich can dress up in safety, because they stay at expensive resorts and get around in limos and often have body guards for this very reason. The scum of the Earth will cause trouble if you look too good and make ostentatious displays.

And finally...the real story behind the killings.

Korean trader nabbed in Macau for Cebu killings
By Jucell Marie Cuyos
Cebu Daily News 11/20/2009

A Korean businessman was arrested in Macau as a suspect in the killing of two Korean men, whose bodies were found below a cliff in barangay Uling, Naga City, Cebu on Sunday.

Park Tae Fung is in the custody of the Hongkong police, said Chief Supt. Lani-O Nerez, chief of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7).

Fung left Cebu for Macau last Nov. 16, a day after the bodies of Choi Ho Jun, 41, and Yang Soon Suk, 40, were found in Cebu.

Police said the three men were members of a big-time swindling syndicate in Korea and that Fung killed the men to stop a blackmail attempt.

Fung allegedly was pressured to pay money to avoid being exposed for his illegal activities in Korea.

Because of the violence, Nerez has requested for a list of Koreans staying in Cebu.

Nerez said the list would help police determine if the Korean visitors have pending cases in their home country.

So they were 'businessmen' after all.

Still senseless.
