I'm looking for advice for a student of mine - she's deciding which kindy school to send her child to (aged 4), and I've read some bad things on here about a couple of the places she was considering (SLP / Poly).
Can anyone with direct knowledge about kindy schools in the Shinchon / Seodamun area recommend a good one? Or any to avoid? |

As for SLP vs. Poly, it depends what they are looking for. Poly will give a higher level of education, i find, but they will have to pass a level test in order to be accepted first. Also, the work is very accademic and kinda hard. We're talking homework in kindergarten.
SLP is more play based, with a less rigourous curriculum. So, it is good if you don't want a stressed out overworked 5 year old, but not as good if they follow the korean way of pushing their kids HARD.
Between these two, it's your decision which way to go. It depends on what they are looking for.
I could be mistaken about this, this is just what i personally have observed. |

I would suggest SLP for kindy, but to move to Poly after the kid starts school. At SLP the kid can learn to like English, but at Poly they'll really have to work hard at learning it. Better to make the introduction to English learning more welcoming and fun, if you ask me. |

I agree. Just make sure the kid is bright enough to pass the Poly enterance test, so that they aren't stuck at the one the entire time. Quite a few kids do kindy at SLP and then switch over to Poly. |
