I've decided despite my old age of 29 (well compared to most of you guys) that I really want one more year of teaching in Korea before I go back to the oh so fascinating world of insurance underwriting. I found a good hagwon in Seoul, the problem is that it doesn't start until the last week of February. I'm willing to hold off on the extra month or two for a quality school (and it gives me more than enough time to make arrangments etc). In the meantime I've been sitting on my butt doing nothing at my friends place in Toronto. I'd like to do something with my time (money isn't a huge issue but would be nice).
Does anyone have any advice on how to get into tutoring (I plan on reporting any income so it would be done legally) in Toronto? This is probably the busiest city in North America for students coming from abroad to learn English. I did so before I came to Korea last year by posting on Craigslist but that was free of charge. Are there any notice boards or services I could join? I suppose I could try word of mouth with some of my Korean friends here but I'd rather not resort to that.
Any help/tips/advice would be great! As most tutors charge $20-25/hour here it seems even for just conversation I would be willing to undercut that by a large degree. |
