I have a friend coming from Thailand to tour Korea in the beginning of December. He wants to see the snow in the mountains, and go to a hot spring or Sauna up in the mountains.
Anyone know a resort area near Seoul that might have snow in the mountains in early December and has a hot spring or Sauna?
I know the resorts have free buses during the ski season, but I guess those buses don't run before the ski season starts. I am assuming there won't be any actual skiing in the beginning of December.
Thanks for any advice about nice resort to see as a tourist (before the actual ski season starts)

Thought I might bump this on a whim.
Looking for a one-night mountain getaway in early December. Would like to see snow if possible, and enjoy a hot spring or decent indoor sauna.

Maybe Yongpyong or Nami Island?

Thanks,
Drew

I can recommend 오색온천 in Yangyang, nestled fairly deep in the mountains.

Went there when my parents came to Korea last Christmas. We got a spacious suite for like 120,00 with two separate bedrooms, and a kitchenette. Free access to the hot springs that feed into the hotel (set up more like a jjimjilbang).

It's a pretty sleepy area, but scenic, and you can go down by where the spring water comes out of the ground. It's naturally carbonated which I didn't even know is possible. Some good Chigae restaraunts around there too.

If you wanted you could take a taxi to Seoraksan from there and do some hiking, but I imagine it'd be like 20-30,000 each way 'cuz you're driving through the countryside.

Here's a page with the info in Korean:
