these guys drive me nuts. i give them simple instructions like "deliver the package on saturday" or "leave it with the security guard." but what always happens is they call me during class, i don't answer, and then it's returned to sender.

i was trying to avoid getting things sent to the school because the administration thinks it's a good idea to send them up to the english room while my classes are going on. that makes me look unprofessional, but it seems like it's the only way.

Mine just sits in the admin office and then they send a text on Coolmessenger to go get it.

Solution: Shop in a store.

The E-Mart and Lotte Mart in my town have (mostly) stopped carrying cheddar cheese (and on the rare occasion it is available, it's ridiculously expensive).

EVERY TIME, without fail, when I ask my coworkers where to find something that isn't at the Homeplus, Emart, or LotteMart in our area, the first and only answer I get is try the internet.

I had the same thing. Ordered a dehumidifier, didn't want to take it home on the bus so I told the guy my apartment. We have a lock on the door, he calls me up and I gave him the building code and said put it in the door. We had a 20 minute argument about how he wouldn't be responsible if it was taken, I didn't care, he wouldn't do it, yada yada yada...

First time I ordered something, the guy calls me, realizes I'm a foreigner, hangs up. I was supposed to wait, i did, he never showed. Monday, find out from my coteacher "oh yeah, he was out of the fan, but he didn't know how to say that in English." So the little soandso just let me sit around all day waiting when he wouldn't show up!

Don't get me wrong, most of the time my stuff comes in fast and easy, but i've had a couple times where I just wanted to pull a Wayne Brady on those guys...

My admin are lazy. They actually asked me to address any deliveries TO the english classroom. So that's what i'll do - until my co-teacher goes and whines to them about it interrupting class.

Yeah. It's annoying. I've had delivery guys yell at me on the phone because I'm not there to pick it up. One time, they tried to deliver it at the same time for FOUR days in a row. Every time, I said, "I am WORKING. I am NOT AT HOME, NO ONE IS HOME. I work MONDAY TO FRIDAY for the SAME HOURS. I WILL NOT BE THERE at this time." And yet, the next day, right as rain, "Where are you??? Why aren't you here?!?! You have a package!"

When the delivery guy calls, tell him to leave the package next to your front door. I never had anything delivered to work since it would mean carrying it home. And what's the point of delivery then. That's what I always did and I ordered from GMarket on a regular basis. When you order from HomePlus, you can schedule the time that it is delivered.

But know that if your package happens to get stolen, then the delivery guy can't be held responsible. Once again, after 3 years of internet shopping I never had any problems.

GMarket is probably the best and easiest for those who don't know Korean. You can get your Costco fix without going to Costco.

I also shopped at HomPlus since if I went to the store I had to get a taxi home. It was cheaper and much less time consuming to shop online and have them deliver. But this site is only in Korean and the first time shopping takes awhile since you are trying to find certain products. While I would buy vegetables/fruit online, it was a little chancey since someone else is picking the stuff for you.

I have all kinds of people knocking on my door during the day. Apparently someone was supposed to come and check the gas-pipes in my house, but since they came during working hours I wasn't at home so they simply shut down the gas to my apartment...

I think someone is bugging me about something these days too, they keep on leaving messages on my door while I'm at work, I guess I should ask someone what these messages mean tomorrow, but I think it has something to do with a census... the reason I know they actually want to talk with me is because I was sleeping late one day and they knocked loudly on my door, but had of course left before I managed to get up and open it.

Probably missionaries. The census is next fall, isn't it?

I tend to get deliveries at school (where they are randomly delivered to some department with foreigners, which I will eventually pass by and get my packages,) but my family keeps sending packages to the house, and the neighbors (foreign) accept them.
