Haven't done one yet, but have booked a 58 day overland trip from Nairobi to Capetown with Absolute Africa for next July.
Did lots of research and for budget camping overland trips, them and Oasis Overland seemed to compare pretty well and had favorable reviews.
For a bit more, Dragoman and a few others were recommended. Search Lonely Planet's thorntree forum for a lot of company info. |

I would second the Dragoman recommendation. I did a 6 week trip from Cape Town-Dar with them this past summer and I had a great time. It is a bit more expensive than others, but also has more things included. Some people on other trucks said they ended up spending much more for the same trip once they had to pay for all the extras. |
