I'm going to go to Palawan in February for 2 weeks with my boyfriend. He is already PADI certified and I would like to get certified there also. I'm already taking the written portion of the class online and I want to get the certification done as quickly as possible. Has anyone done the course in The Philipiines?

We would ideally like to start at one end of the island and work our way across after I complete the cert.

Any advice is appreciated!

You will absolutely love Palawan. The best diving is up north. When we were there, we did not have the time to get all the way up there (travelling is slow on the island). We did do some diving in Puerto Princessa which was nice. Have fun!

my bf and I both did our PADI certs in El Nido with a man called Esmer Fabian. I'd recommend him. PM if you want details. If I remember it cost about 600,000 ~ 700,000 won.

We stayed at Hadefe's beachfront cottages...whom I'd also recommend.

Have fun!!

Good deal there ???

..... it is usually only 1/2 that price for a PADI cert anywhere else or was that price for the 2 of you?

Just had a look again and we paid 18,000 P each. At the time the exchange was 546,000 won, but now it's about a hundred thousand less.

I'm not sure Palawan is the cheapest place to do a PADI. We were very happy with the service, and I am happy to refer people to Esmer. It was just the two of us and him, and we were able to complete the course at our own pace doing about a total of 10 dives.

Hope that clears things up for you. What we paid is still considerably less than what either of us would have paid in our home countries.
