I'm looking at a job that places teachers in the public school system in Korea, offering classes after regualr school hours. The company is called Seoul land, anyone heard of them?

No, its not illegal.
This is part of the new governemt initiative to get give kids after school classes in public schools instead of sending them to hagwons.
its only been pushed through this month so I'd be interested. |

Ask yourself why you think you'd be better off? Your public school classes might be much larger.
The hours stink -- evenings are awful, in general. Say goodbye to any form of weekday social life. Want to meet a girl for dinner or coffee? It's not going to happen until the weekend, unless she can get away for lunch.
Kids are more difficult in the evenings, because it's been a long day for them and they'd just assume go to bed.
Sounds like a receipe for hell to me.
In my first year, I taught from 3 to 9 (or sometimes 4 to 10) at night.
Never again. |

| i teach in the public school system, and there's no way i could imagine switching over to a hagwon. the girls are so drained by the end of the day, i'd hate to have to teach them later on. add in the vacations, the decreased likelihood of getting jerked around, having evenings off. i was reluctant when i first came, but like i said, couldn't imagine going back |
