I would be interested in knowing if anyone has worked at POLY school, and what their experiences were. I'm considering applying, but would appreciate any feedback on positive or negative experiences.

Thank you in advance,
Mithra

I know someone that worked there recently.

Good money...

Admin is sketchy, but on the up-and-up for the most part....

She went on a few trips each year... seemed to have good time off... therefore you might not like it since you'd become more of a diddler.

long work days though... your chance to un-diddle yourself.

I worked there 3 years back. They had very high standards for the Kindie kids and an English-only policy. The facilities were nice and the curriculum they pushed for the most part made sense. They will work you to death though. I always felt like I was at school.

The people I've known who've worked there work a ton, but they got paid for it. I'd rather work less and get less money, but to each their own.

A guy I knew worked there and hated it. They wouldn't let him sit down.

There have been several threads about Poly, but they get deleted.

Sounds like hell. On wheels.

Poly wants a cracker, not a car jacker.

They only hire teachers from North America, right?

Yes, the only hire people from the US and Canada.
The working hours are 11 hours a day and the pay is not much higher than hagwons with less hours. In fact, if you do the math, you earn less per hour compared to typical hagwons. Only people who are in debt take that job. You truly feel like a slave there. I can't recommend it.
Plus I recently had the most awful experience with them in all my years of being in Korea. My campus has a rotating door...no one's happy.
And out of all those hours there's really no down time. You get 5 minutes in between classes and lunch is only 30 minutes long so you're always watching the clock and have to eat like you haven't eaten in a week. So stressful. Housing is like a closet or dorm. Everything is mini sized.
Well, that was just my experience, I heard experiences vary depending on campus...

I personally would not suggest working for them. I did it, had problems from beginning to end, and left after 6 months.

i work at one now. yes, the hours are longer. if ur in korea to simply party it up and experience something new (i'm not knocking that mentality), poly probably isn't for you.

i like my students and staff. the latter is quite accommodating. like previously mentioned, the curriculum usually makes sense.

i worked at a private place before and i did work less in-building hours. i had to deal with a lot more b.s. i was actually more tired at the end of the day there. also, i had to do more self-planning and gathering of materials at my last place due to pitiful curriculum planning. in the end, i feel like i'm working the same amount.
