I'm likely to be taking my first trip to Seoul this Saturday. I'd like to have a few drinks and then go see some bands whilst I'm there. Besides koreagigguide, is there anywhere else online to look for gigs? I'd quite like to see some punk/hardcore/alt. rock/indie or some jazz. I'm likely to be going on my own so is the Seoul music scene really insular? Where is popular for pre-gig drinks in Seoul? Lastly, do many foreigners go to the big club nights? I was thinking I might see some bands and then go on to Club Volume to see Sasha. |

Yup, there will be plenty of foreigners at the Sasha gig, myself included. The international big shots tend to draw out a very good mixed crowd. Sasha's a much more aquired taste compared to say, AVB who was here on Saturday, but he always puts on a great show and is a treat to watch. You'll be in good company.
In terms of live punk/indie/rock, Hongdae is your best bet. I'm not plugged into that scene as much as I am the EDM stuff, but I would guess that Skunk Hell/DGBG/Club Drug would have something up your alley going on that night. Any help on this one, guys?
Itaewon does have venues for live music, but they're mostly straight rock/folk or cover bands. |

Excellent. Just what I wanted to hear. I've seen Sasha a few times before and I've never been disappointed. |

An inside source says his customized Maven controller for Ableton Live crapped out on him right before the start of his Asian tour, but he's been supplied with two of the new CDJ-2000 units from Pioneer and will be mixing off platters for the first time in a couple of years. Should be interesting. |

Skunk Hell closed at least a few months ago, but DGBD, FF, Freebird, and Spot are still alive and kicking. All the shows will be on Korea Gig Guide. It seems like it's all hardcore, ska, and rockabilly bands these days though. I'm more into indie pop-rock, and that's kinda hard to find here. |

club FF has indie rock.

Oh, BTW there's a Battle of the Bands final round this Saturday night at Ye Ole Stompers in Itaewon, there's a couple of punk bands, a ska band and a latin band playing, and it's 20,000 won for all you can drink beer and wells from 9p-12p. Last Saturday it was packed, and everyone had a blast! The final round should be even better. |

Damn. Shame I wasn't in the country then. I meant to say, if anyone has no one to go with to the Sasha set and fancies going get in contact. I don't mind going to gigs on my own. I'm not so keen on going to clubs on my own. |
