I'm with GEPIK at an elementary school. I get paid the 17th of every month.
My co-teacher says that my payment covers the whole month. If I get paid on the 17th of December 2009, then that payment is for the whole month of December. So if I leave my school January 1st 2010, then I won't another paycheck, cause the December 17th paycheck covers from December 1st to December 31st.
I thought that paychecks cover the time you worked. So if I got payed on December 17th 2009, then that paycheck covers the time I worked from November 18th 2009 to December 17th 2009. I thought I would then receive a last paycheck on January 1st 2010 to cover December 18th 2009 to December 31st 2009. Am I wrong in thinking this? |

They do it differently in Korea. They pay for the month, but early. For example, I'm paid on the 25th of every month. So this November 25th, I'll get a check that covers November 1-November 30. However, I started at the beginning of a month. Think back to your first day.. You probably started at the beginning of a month (the 1st) and received a paycheck after only 17 days. If this is true, they are right. If you didn't get a paycheck your first month, then they will owe you. Best of luck! |

Yep regarding public schools. If you were at a hogwan, you might be one of those who gets paid 2 weeks after the month you worked. So, Dec. 17th is your last pay. Enjoy it. |
