Hello all,

I have a couple of weeks left in Seoul, so I'd like some suggestions of must see/do things before I head back home Smile I've been here two weeks but had some work to do so haven't done as much as I'd like - time to change that! So far I've been up building 60, strolled around Gangnam & Hongdae, seen a few bars in Itaewon and had some great food & drink in Pierre's & Top Cloud. I took a pretty nice walk from Insadong down to the river via Namsan Park last week and ate a great Bibimbap in some little shack place which was cool.

I'm planning on doing the USO DMZ/Panmunjom tour next week, and probably will take the KTX to Busan the w/e after next. So, what else should be on my list folks? I'm interested in most things - city hustle & bustle, markets, museums, palace's, big walks across the city & of course getting wrecked on Soju & talking crap with new 'frineds' Very Happy

cheers,
Steve

The Korean War Memorial at Samgakji station near Itaewon is a must see. I would also suggest going up in the N Seoul Tower.

Yeah actually hoping to grab dinner @ N'Grill, kinda two birds with one stone! Think I'm going to take a walk through the centre towards Hongdae, I'm in Insadong.

Have you done the tour of Gyeongbokgung? Actually, I preferred Changdeokgung to Gyeongbokgung. It's past Anguk station if you're going toward Dongdaemun.

Not yet, can see it from my window right now! I'll visit both as they are so nearby. I know I need a guide for Gyeongbukgong... think the times are 11:30 & 13:30 - I noticed last week when I took a stroll to Dongdaemun mkt

Definitely hit Itaewon during the day or early evening.

Maybe catch a traditional or modern show at a theater. I've been here a year and haven't seen Nanta/Cookin' yet. It's a little pricey but I heard it's worth it.

Get out of Seoul.

Head to Ulleungdo, Gyeongju or Jeju. All three are something special.

Hit up Gyeongju if you have time, it's great. Also walk around Bukchon. It's a neighborhood north of Anguk station on Line 3 east of Gyeongbokgung.

I agree with everyone else who said you should go to Gyeongju. There you'll get an "authentic" Korean experience which actually is a great way to spend a day.

Another place I'd recommend is Geoje. The town itself is pretty bland but there's a Korean War Museum there which says it has "The Largest Diorama in the World". And a short ferry ride away (50 minutes) from Geoje is Oedo Island which is a big island/botanical garden.

I wrote about both of these places in my blog that I just started about korea.
