So its been a couple months now and I havent resolved this, please help me!

I have an xbox 360. All I want to do is install a router so that i can get my live set up. thats it! I bought a cheap router but of course all the instructions are in korean and i couldnt troubleshoot or finish it. Of course, my coteacher doesnt quite know what to do but always drags her feet when I ask for help. Does anyone have advice on where to get a router with english instuctions? or a place to call that will just do it for me damnit?

Hey friend,

I'd be happy to help, since I had the same issue when I got here.

What is the model of your router? You can download the English firmware from the manufacturer's website, and flash your router with that. It's pretty easy.

I'll watch this thread for a reply. This should be in the technology forum. Smile

Hey buddy. The make and model is an Anygate GW-1000A. I checked out the manufacturers site but its all in Korean. So im not sure. How would I go about getting that off their site? ANd also since you seem to be knowledgeable in the area, does router quality greatly affect the game play? cuz this one was like 35 bucks.

Anyways, thanks a lot man. I always appreciate it when someone is so helpful (which is what I try to do in turn) and not just use these forums to make idiotic comments.

The only way in which your router may affect your game-play is if it doesn't play nice with your internet connection. However, that is rare. You are probably fine.

Also, if you are into torrents at all, don't forget to forward your ports after you get your router all set up with English. portforward.com

Ah. The Anygate routers are definitely Korean. After a quick Google search, I don't think there is an English firmware available for it.

Anyway, your router should function just fine if you just plug it in and turn it on, unless your internet service provider requires and login and password to connect.

Are you simply unable to connect to anything with your router?

I did this with my XBOX1-same problem. You need to have everything off. Comp can go into port1 and xbox into port2. Everything needs to be off for a while...maybe 10 minutes so that your modem can give a new IP to your computer and xbox. Turn on the modem, wait for a line connection, then turn on your router...make sure your xbox is setup for DHCP and you should be good to go
