I've been having bad luck with my advanced classes over the past four or five weeks. I've always liked those classes the most so I always made lesson plans for them that were completely separate from the lesson plans the lower classes got, mainly because my advanced classes are so much further along in their English studies than about everyone else (20-30% of them are fluent speakers).

I need a really good lesson/activity that will bring them out of their shell a bit. For some reason, the stupider a kid is the louder they feel like they need to be. I have tonnes of kids in my low level classes that have no problem screaming and carrying on, but in my smarter classes they can be way too quiet.

Anything would be appreciated, I'm really out of ideas. They're High School students. Thanks.

I had a fun one.

Conversations class I tried asking them "What is love?"

Ask them to share their own experiences with love. Be it with family or with friends.

Each student stands and presents. Other students are attentive and want to hear, while it gives them a chance to express themselves with feeling, attachment and emotion in another language.

I stole it from my textbook.

Cheers
