|

the rumor going around is that SMOE changed the rules for the winter camps and there will be no bonus and teachers must work the same regular hours and a full day (8.50-4.30)
(most teachers got at least 30k (measley but better than nothing) |

You can thank all the big mouths that came on and bragged and complained about the PS camps. If people had learned to shut their big mouths, then the situation probably would never have changed. English teachers are not the only ones that read this board, you know? |

^ it's more likely that someone read the thread and then called the school board to complain.
english teachers are probably the only ones with enough time to read this board. |

its more than likely that no one read this board, but that people complained to their schools, or their schools complained to someone else. MUCH more likely though is that someone higher up thought "why the hell are we paying these people extra money ON TOP of their wages for the time theyre contracted to work! They should be bloody working! Plus! im sick of trying to get people to come and fill winter camps every year because they think its not part of their contract and would rather be on a beach in thailand. Screw those hippies! The carrot isnt working. So they can do what theyre bloody told!" |

I agree. It has nothing to do with the overall economy, a ridiculous push to squeeze out every dime from the ps contracts, overzealous legislators and administrators demonizing esl teachers, and a glut of recruits more than willing to replace those that found the conditions miserable.
Complaining sucks because it inconveniences me, I mean it really sucks for you, but I'm a sociopath so I'm oblivious to the plight of others.

Yeah I mean it's in the contract. It's a pain in the butt but whatever. If I'd have been stuck working 9-5 while everybody else I knew wasn't I'd sure as hell make a stink, not in order to rat them out but to get myself a half day. Suck it up crybabies. |

I'm gonna jump on the old high horse and say that all those who bragged about how great their schools were, and all those who complained about how great other schools were, are all idiots that deserve to be slapped in the face with a wet fish. Preferably a stingray. |
