Anybody know anything about working in the "English Villages"? and partifcularly one down in Mok-po.....I think it's called MokPo English? I heard also that it's owned by the Korea Herald.

I noticed on a Google that it looks like they're continuously recruiting and on one of the URLs it mentioned that there's what seems to be like frequent weekend shifts.

I'm curious.

Hi just browsing through the forum, saw your unreplied post, I worked at an English Village this past year. All i'll say is possibly stay clear, I was talking to a potential recruiter and he said that the 'English Village' is a good idea, but the Koreans didnt execute it well. I heard a few English Village's have closed, think their reputation is not the best now. The one I was at, was very much struggling, I got nervous and left after getting paid late.. Best advice is to ask to talk to teachers already there.

Turns out that I didn't get the offer. I thought our telephone interview went pretty good but......well.

However I did get an offer, which I accepted, in an elementary school in Gumi. For 3 mill.

That amounts to a 40% raise over what I was making in the public middle school where I was working in Suwon. I enjoyed immensely telling my Suwon school that I'd gotten another job.
