1. Gives profits away to save lives, not zen master training lessons
2. Doesn't care about what he wears, as it doesn't matter - not going with an artsy 101 black turtle neck and jeans for the last 12years
3. Believing in an OS that is open for vendors to join in and create, not monopolizing 3rd party contributors (up until 1995)
4. Kept his operation in his home state, not moving to silicon to be "there"
5. Kept his closest high school buddies in the operation, not stealing from them (jobs took 80% or more of initial apple 1 sales by deceiving woz into thinking there were much less profits [iCon book reference]) and then putting them out to pasture (woz)
6. didn't disown his child born out of wedlock (also refusing child support for several years)
7. Spent his teen years relying on the power of his mind, relatively unaltered, not relying on drugs to get the brain running
8. Dropped out of Harvard cause he was disinterested - cool in itself. Skipped a load of Harvard classes to play poker
9. bailed apple computers out, financially, when it was on the verge of a hostile asian take-over, when Jobs retook the helm at Apple.
10. Saw what he wanted and took it, and changed it enough to not be copying. Life's too short for gentile-isms, and good manners.
11 Dumped a load of microsoft money to get back market share in console gaming (from the japanese) - something we created and let the japanese take over.
and so on

hmmm....

PLAYBOY: Ever take LSD?
GATES: My errant youth ended a long time ago.
PLAYBOY: What does that mean?
GATES: That means there were things I did under the age of 25 that I ended up not doing subsequently.
PLAYBOY: One LSD story involved you staring at a table and thinking the corner was going to plunge into your eye.
GATES: [Smiles]
PLAYBOY: Ah, a glimmer of recognition.
GATES: That was on the other side of that boundary. The young mind can deal with certain kinds of gooping around that I don't think at this age I could. I don't think you're as capable of handling lack of sleep or whatever challenges you throw at your body as you get older. However, I never missed a day of work. |

not to be pedantic but that's 11, or perhaps one of them doesn't make him cooler than jobs. |

It would seem to me that Gates achieved a lot of success, something Americans are supposed to proud of.
He also gives back an enormous amount to the US and the world. Showing personal compassion. Another admired quality in America.
Yet he is reviled by many.
Same as Starbucks and MacDonalds. Both very successful companies who Americans seems to love or hate.
Strange, how some Americans seem to worship success while others seem to hate the successful. |

yeah if you were to ask me "who would you rather go out boozin with/hang out with?" i think i would have to go with Gates over Jobs.
Jobs seems like a pretty big nutsack. |

Jobs probably isn't that keen on boozing. Gates still has his own liver. |

From your other thread with the exact same name but with 13 reasons.

13. Part of a recipe for getting notebooks/netbooks down to $199 for internet surfing machines. Not $1200, just because the logo is cool, and the fans are loyal - just lame and retarded. |
Can you please show me a $199 netbook/notebook with similar specs as that of a $1200 MacBook?
Some people's hate (and others' love) of plastic things is amazing. |

A netbook with intel atom, 1 gig ram, motherboard built-in video card and audio card can be compared to a macbook with the intel core 2 duo.
Macbook $1000
Toshiba or HP or Lenovo netbook $300
Lenovo has ideapads with Intel Core 2 duo's, a netbook with almost exactly the same specs starting at $675 |

Sorry, you seem to have left out a lot more of the stats for the MacBook which may add to its price. Let me help.
Quote: |
# 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
# 2GB DDR3 memory
# 250GB hard drive1
# 8x double-layer SuperDrive
# NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
# Built-in 7-hour battery2 |
You are selling your own netbook which has the specs you noted because it can't run Photoshop. Oh, and it cost you 567,000 won and can't even sell for 400,000. Interesting.
I also notice you are raising the price from $199 to now $675 and comparing the basic $999 MacBook as apposed to a $1200 MacBook Pro. |
