|
|
I'm re-signing with my school for a third year. I did a Criminal Record Check last year. I was told by my head teacher that I need not do one this year. He said it's a new law. Can anyone verify if this is true?
Yes, I'm going to phone Immigration too. But I'd like to triple-check, because it's always a good idea. |

Anybody? Surely somebody must know the answer to this question. |

from April 2006-April 2009 at my hagwon in rural Gyeongsangnam province I had to provide a CBC only once and it was not apostiled, visa renewed each year no problem
asking what the LAW is is sorta beside the point in Korea, as laws are unevenly applied and even outdated past laws can be upheld at times, frustrating as that can be
phoning immigration is no help because the guy you talk to today and the guy who you talk to over it when the time comes may be two different people, and citing what someone else has said doesn't go very far, unless you get their name and they know each other
the upshot of all this is: there is no SURE, definite answer to your question
(if you're worried about it then just order another CBC and have it on hand, unmentioned, in case it's needed) |

OK, well, thanks for your input! I really just want to hear a bit of confirmation from a few different people who resigned without a new CBC. My school says I don't need one, but I just wanted to make sure this is the case. Anybody else care to share their experiences with this?
So long as I hear no reports of actually needing a new CBC to resign an existing contract, no, I won't order one. My head teacher's resigning his contract at the same time as me, and he's not getting a new CBC. So, worse comes to worst, at least I won't be alone, lol.... |

Masan Immigration ordered me to get a new one, because I changed jobs. They said that if I had renewed the contract with my former school where I last submitted a CRC, then I would not have had to resubmit an updated CRC.
So, it sounds like your school is correct. |

It defies logic....if you have already submitted the documents....worked for a year...and NEVER left korea...why submitt another records check?!?!? |

Submitting new transcripts and new diploma with every new job application to the same old immigration office year after year makes no sense either.

Korea has a habit of doing that. It can be fun (in a head shaking involuntary amazed laughter sort of way) and frustrating (wasted effort, unforseen obstacles).
The key to this situation is: Has anybody ever had to re-submit a CRC when re-signing at the same school? As long as no one peeps up and says 'yeah', then the op should be fine. |
