Before I beg for your help, I'd like to say thanks to all the people who spend their time responding to my (and others) threads. This board has giving me a lot of good information, including a member referral to my first job in 2005.

I'm the expat who worked for 2 years under an E-2 then decided to get a Masters at a joint Korea/US program to increase my chances of landing a career job in Korea. Well now that I'm graduated, the job search is not going as well as I'd like, so I'm trying to change my game plan a little. I've talked with an expat who works at a professional headhunting company in Korea and he suggested to get to Korea any way possible so you can do face to face interviews and talk to HR people personally. So now I'm considering teaching English at University for a year to get back in Korea and work my mojo for jobs. I've got some things cookin' in the US, but I still want to explore this option.

Uni. Teachers, here's where I could really use your help. I know the Universities are not hiring right now and when they are, it is super competitive, but they will start excepting applications soon for the Spring semester. If you could let me know when your Uni is hiring for Spring 2010 and who to contact, that would be great!

Feel free PM me if you have any information or questions about my work experience.

Thanks,
Conor

conor,

You seem to be a little 'out of the loop' as to - uni hiring season in K-land. Interviews are happening as we 'speak'. Bali Bali!

Agreed ~ take a look at the job board, there are two advertisements up today.

Besides, no offense man, but if someone's uni is looking for people to hire, it's very unlikely that they will p.m. you about it and not one of their bajillion friends that wants to get on at a university... just saying...

And you're right, if you want a university job you will probably need to be in country to interview, or take something out of Seoul where they're a bit more desperate. Either way it sounds like you're wanting a university job just to pass the time until you get something more 'corporate.' A university hiring committee won't take well to that idea.

If you are here in Korea, you can get in on the 2nd round of hires... usually people cancel at the last minute, and schools have to scramble to find people. Usually, you have to know someone, though.
