Could anyone tell me about how much it would cost to get a year's worth of disposable contacts and glasses? I know there are different prices depending on brands, but a ballpark figure would help. Thanks so much! |

For a 3-months supply of Accuvue disposables, I think I paid about 80,000 or 90,000 won. Can't remember exactly, but it was under 100, and that includes the eye exam of course. And a big bottle of solution. I did not shop around, just walked into the first place I saw and it was an expensive area, so bargain hunters can probably get a better deal.
For glasses, prices vary a lot. Korean-made glasses can be very cheap, like 50,000 won total, maybe even less. If you want some better frames, imported, European or designer, you'll pay a lot more. Someof the Korean frames seem very flimsy to me, but if you like light glasses, they are perfect. |

Ok, things will be a bit more pricey there. I just paid 100 usd for new glasses, no frames though, plus a year supply of contacts.
Solution, it's about 25 bucks a big bottle, so I stock up at Walmart, is it cheaper there in Korea? |

Are you still in the USA? Buy your contacts online in bulk and bring them! They are light to carry. They keep for 3 or 4 years.
I bought 2 years worth (a years supply, plus another years supply about 11 months later when they e-mailed me with a deal). I picked up the 2nd box the following year when I visited home.
I haven't purchased contacts here in a year. They were up to 35,000 won for a pack of 5 acuvue (2 1/2 pair) at most eye places in Korea, and that was before the market crash. Not sure what they are now. I can remember when they used to be about 27,000. The price kept creeping up, and that's why I started buying at home.
The person above must have found a deal I haven't seen (although I haven't looked around here).
Contacts are cheaper in bulk in the USA. I used www.coastalcontacts.com, if memory serves. Yes, I had to pay for a wal-mart eye exam to get my prescription, but I still saved a lot overall. |

nope, in Peru. Just bought a year's supply. The contact solution, I get when I go to the US. Walmart
though, I am buying .5 LESS than my vision. Did that last year, ca't see for about two weeks, walked into walls, had migraines, couldn't judege distance, looked pretty funny. BUT, then your eyes adjust. I'll do that , keep lowering my vision, maybe I'll get back to perfect vision. Now I'm 5.0
Here in Peru, I brought my glasses, they said they were 5.0 . No exams, I asked them to lower it to 4.5 and they did. I'll start weraing them over Christmas and walking into walls
What do you mean a pack of 5? Shouldn't they come in EVEN numbers? I don't get that. |
