|
|
I'm looking to get a new video player, and I would love to have a Wi-Fi web browser with it, since that seems to be getting more common. Here are my required and desired functions (explaining why I-touch is disqualified); does anything exist yet with what I need?
Required:
video player and decent screen (I-Phone size is great)
Wi-Fi web browser
Drag and Drop function to load videos from any computer
Delete videos from menu with no computer connection required.
Desired:
Skype
GSM SIM card phone (for US, don't expect it to work in Korea)
Does anything exist like what I am describing?
Before going further, I just want to say that I-Phone and I-Touch are great devices. However, I am away from my "home" computer for 2 months twice a year and need "drag and drop" and "menu delete" functions that are just contrary to the whole Apple philosophy (for whatever reason). I have tried Floola and Rockbox and ended up frying my old IPod and really am a bit scared about using 3rd party software to hack Apple products. So Apple is great but just doesn't fit my lifestyle of being away from my home for months at a time and I would rather just stay away from apple for those reasons (but Apple would be great if I never went on vacation).
I think that the Nexus One has what I need, using the Android Operating system. I think actual user reviews are just starting to come in about the Nexus One. What I really need would be something like the I-touch (no phone) but with Android software ("drag and drop" and "menu delete").
Any Chinese products with video and web browser? Maybe not unless they have developed their own operating system yet.
Finally, net book is also not the solution. I am looking for something light like a Cowon video player; and windows is just too bloated for just a video player and Wi-Fi web browser.
Thanks for any advice! I am thinking about ordering the Nexus One and picking it up when I go to US for a visit, but want to check with the experts here before I do that.

I think as an alternative to the Nexus One, you should consider the Nokia N900. I'm not saying it's better, but it's definitely worth checking out (and you can get it cheaper than the Nexus One, too). |
