I'm thinking about landing a job in Seoul. My experience in Korea is just with one school, so I should do my best effort to make them a good reference.
I'd like to buy some gifts for them, mainly my "handler", cause she does a lot of work.
What gift(s) did you buy for your co-teacher(s), how much did you spend on your gift(s) and did it assist in making them a good reference for you? |

first school: some keychains and mugs from my home country. ~$15. and no, it didn't help.
second school: mugs, candy, syrup and whiskey. ~$25. and although i got a good reference, i doubt it had to do with the gifts (they worked me into the ground and apparently, i did a good job).
third school: so pissed at last school that i didn't bring anything, but now i realize it's the school that really deserved something. so now i'm brining back gifts from vacation.
anyways, the point that i'm very badly trying to make is that it won't matter in the end (reference time) if you bring gifts or not when you started. bringing gifts certainly can't hurt your relationship with your school, but in the end they'll be looking at what you did during your year there. |
